Tasting
Notes
A
classic Italian coastal wine. Pale yellow with flecks
of gold in the glass. Ravello gives off floral hints of
honeysuckle and fresh cut daisy. Generally light in body,
but not lacking structure, this wine has bright acidity
marking it as an excellent accompaniment to the seafood
dishes of the area.
Campania Wine Fact
One method available to vine growers to produce the best
fruit possible is vine-training. There are many systems
available to train vines and the reasons for doing such
are just as innumerable. A classic training system used
in Campania, and most likely brought by the Greeks, is
the Pergola system. Often maligned as an inferior method
of growing grapes, Pergola trained vines spend considerably
more time in the shade. In generally hot and sunny areas
this protection can go a long way to freeing the wine
of a burnt flavor. Like all viticulture techniques though,
it has to be carefully monitored and maintained.
